Dental Crowns & Bridges in Downey, CA

Older man in glasses smiling after dental crown treatment, Downey CAAre you living with smile concerns like broken or missing teeth? Dr. Yang may recommend a dental crown or bridge as a solution for your smile.

A tooth crown restores a decayed, fractured, or damaged tooth, while a dental bridge replaces one or more missing adjacent teeth. Both restorations are designed to complement your smile while restoring eating and chewing functions so you can enjoy your food easily again.

When Do We Recommend a Dental Crown?

Crowns cover a damaged tooth down to the gum line and closely mimic your natural tooth in shape and shade. A ceramic porcelain crown can be customized to blend seamlessly with your surrounding teeth, complementing your smile.

Dr. Yang may recommend a crown for these situations:

  • To restore a broken or lost restoration like an old crown or filling
  • To rebuild and strengthen a tooth that’s had a root canal
  • To cover a misshapen or discolored tooth for cosmetic reasons
  • To rejuvenate a severely decayed or damaged tooth
  • To be a single tooth restoration for a dental implant

Dr. Yang works with a trusted dental lab that uses the best materials when making your crown so that you can enjoy a high-quality restoration for many years.

When Do We Recommend a Bridge?

Dental bridges can be a good solution for patients missing one or more teeth in a row who aren’t candidates for dental implants or don’t want to go through implant surgery.

A bridge relies on two dental crowns to act as anchors on each side of one or more prosthetic porcelain teeth. Made of porcelain, your bridge will complement your smile and restore your chewing function.

Benefits of Crowns and Bridges

Dental crowns and bridges are popular solutions for restoring damaged or missing teeth. If you’re considering dental crowns in Downey, CA, you’re on the right track toward a durable and natural-looking fix. Here are some of their benefits.

Protects Teeth

Dental crowns act as a protective “cap” to prevent further decay, cracks, or breaks. They shield the tooth while restoring its natural shape and strength, so you can chew and speak easily.

Enhances Appearance

Both crowns and bridges are custom-made to match the color and shape of your natural teeth. These restorations blend right in and give you a smile you’re proud to show off and share with the world.

Improves Function

Missing or damaged teeth can throw off your bite, leading to discomfort or even jaw issues. Crowns and bridges restore balance and make everyday activities like eating and speaking feel comfortable and natural again.

The Crown and Bridge Process

Image of dental crowns and bridges, Downey CAGetting a dental crown or bridge is a similar process. It will require two appointments with your Downey dentist.

During your first visit, Dr. Yang prepares your tooth for its new restoration, takes impressions of your smile for the lab, and creates a temporary crown or bridge for you to wear while the lab makes your final restoration.

It will usually take the dental lab two to three weeks to hand make your final restoration; once it’s ready, you’ll return to our Downey dental office to have Dr. Yang permanently place it. He’ll ensure that your bite properly functions with your new crown or bridge and make any necessary adjustments, and then you’re ready to eat, chew, talk, or laugh with your new tooth or bridge.

Crown vs. Filling: Making the Right Choice for Tooth Restoration

tooth restoration in Downey

When a tooth is compromised, decay or a fracture may cause sensitivity and difficulty chewing. You need a solution, but is a dental filling or crown right for you? Let's discuss the differences so you can make educated decisions about your smile.
